Greatness for Gonzalez in the Moto2™ Grand Prix of Spain

Manuel Gonzalez qualifying scoring his forth pole position of the season
Racing Triumph Motorcycles 28th Apr 2025

The fourth round of the Triumph-powered Moto2™ class took place this weekend at the iconic Circuito de Jerez in southern Spain.

Home-hero Manuel Gonzalez once again shone in qualifying scoring his fourth pole position of the season, having put in a superb late lap to bag the top spot by just 0.032s ahead of Albert Arenas.

Having dominated Saturday’s qualifying, Gonzalez took the top honours in the 21-lap race in front of his home crowd. Leading the way from start to finish, Gonzalez crossed the line ahead of Barry Baltus, who enjoyed a brilliant race utilising the Triumph’s 765cc engine’s strong spread of torque to carve through the front runners from his fourth-place grid position, to land a spot on the podium, his first of the year.

Behind the unstoppable Gonzalez, Diogo Moreira had a superb start to the race powering from fifth to second position ahead of Senna Agius. With Agius hot on Moreira’s heels, the pair entered battle, and in the closing stages Moreira was unable to hold off Agius’s strong advances, which eventually saw the Australian claim the final podium spot in third, with Moreira fourth.

Following today’s race, Gonzalez has snatched the championship lead from Canet with Dixon in third.
